Israel is building a 30-meter high anti-terrorist fence, to protect its new airport

Israel is currently constructing a new airport (to be called 'Ramon airport') in the South of the country on the border with Jordan.

The $1.7 billion new Ramon airport will open in 2018. It will serve as Israel's second international airport after Ben Gurion Airport, and will allow Israel to still receive planes even if Ben Gurion Airport is closed due to missile attacks.

However, the airport is very vulnerable to terrorists due to its location directly on the border with Jordan, where it is within immediate range of terrorist rocket and missile fire from the unguarded border with Jordan.

As a protective measure, Israel is building a 30 meter high anti-terrorist fence to protect the airport from the Jordanian side, at a cost of NIS 300 million.

The fence will feature electronic detection systems and will become the tallest anti-terrorist fence in the world.
