IAF jets striked Hamas targets in Gaza after rocket fire:

The Israeli military carried out airstrikes in northern Gaza on Saturday on two Hamas tunnels in response to an earlier rocket launch into Israeli territory.

"IDF fighter jets targeted two of Hamas' underground structures in the Gaza Strip," the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.

Two targets in Gaza City were hit by the Israeli strikes and no one was harmed, security sources in Gaza said.

Hamas is believed to have a large network of tunnels crisscrossing the Strip and close to, or under, the frontier with Israel.

The attack was in response to a rocket launch earlier in the evening.

The rocket landed in an open field in Israel, after setting off sirens in the southern communities of Sdot Negev and Sha'ar Hanegev.

Tamir Idan, head of the Sdot Negev Regional Council, called on the government to respond more harshly to rocket launches from the Hamas-ruled territory.

Hamas said in response that an escalation wont bring security to Israel, and it will bare the full consequances of it's actions.

Hundreds of Palestinians gathered Saturday for the funeral of Amal al-Tarmsi, a Gazan woman killed by Israeli forces during the riots near the perimeter fence on Friday.

She is this year's first fatality from the weekly mass demonstrations.

Al-Mezan, a Palestinian human rights group, said she was around 200 meters from the fence when she was shot in the head.

Some 13,000 Gazans participated in riots along the Gaza border Friday, throwing rocks, fire bombs and hand-grenades at Israeli troops, burning tires and trying to breach the security fence.

Soldiers responded with tear gas and, in some cases live fire.

Taramisi was the 3rd woman killed since the protests were launched last spring, along with a medic and a 14-year-old girl.

Amal's mother, Halima, sobbed as she sat in the corner of her home waiting for her daughter's body, which was wrapped with a Palestinian flag.

Israel "should leave our lands and let us alone to live in freedom," she said, urging Palestinian factions to unite against Israel and US President Donald Trump.
