Activists Demand Bahamian Climate Refugees be Allowed into U.S.

"Let them in!" activists chanted outside the Border Patrol HQ in DC tonight. The protesters say Donald Trump is wrong to prevent Bahamian climate refugees from entering the United States.

Trump has said some are "bad people."

News2Share spoke to organizers Hannah Perry and Ntebo Mokuena.

Mokuena notes that Temporary Protective Status (TPS) is supposed to be offered in natural disasters, so hurricane should qualify.

Perry says black, brown and indigenous folks will be hit first as the climate crisis worsens.

Another activist afterward told News2Share that there will be another protest on October 19th called "Doctors for Camp Closure" which will specifically advocate the closing of border camps, emphasizing health concerns.
